Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Every anti-wrinkle treatment at BioPlus is performed by one of our three medical doctors: Dr. Sam X. Zong (Medical Director and lead injector), Dr. Sanaz Gharedaghi, and Dr. Cindy Huang. Each holds a medical degree, completed family medicine residency, and has built a focused aesthetic injection practice on top of their medical training. This is a meaningful difference from most clinics in the Lower Mainland, where injections are typically performed by registered nurses or aestheticians.

Anti-wrinkle injection is a deceptively simple-looking treatment that actually depends on deep knowledge of facial anatomy, muscle dynamics, and aesthetic judgment. The difference between a refreshed, natural result and an asymmetric or overdone one is largely down to the experience and clinical eye of the injector. Our three physicians bring more than 24 combined years of focused injection practice, board-certified medical training, and active hospitalist or family medicine experience that informs every decision. When something does not look right on a face, our doctors can diagnose why and adjust accordingly.

BioPlus offers all four of the Health Canada-approved neuromodulators: Botox by Allergan, Dysport by Galderma, and more available upon request. Each brand has subtle differences in onset speed, diffusion pattern, and longevity. Your injecting physician will recommend the right brand for your facial anatomy, treatment goals, and any history with previous injections during your consultation.

The most common treatment areas are the glabella (between the brows, where frown lines form), the forehead (horizontal lines), and the crow's feet (lines around the outer eyes). Other commonly treated areas include the bunny lines on the nose, lip flips for a softer smile, jaw slimming with masseter injections, neck bands, and underarm sweating. Your physician will determine which areas are right for your specific goals and facial structure.

Not with our approach. The goal of well-administered anti-wrinkle treatment is to soften muscle movement, not eliminate it. Our three injecting physicians treat every face as a sculpting project, using precise dosing and placement to preserve natural expression while reducing the visible lines that come from repeated muscle contraction. This is where physician-level training matters: understanding which muscles to relax, which to leave alone, and how to maintain the overall harmony of your face. Many patients tell us that friends notice they look rested or refreshed, without being able to identify exactly what is different.

Results typically last 3 to 4 months for most patients. Some patients with stronger facial muscles or higher metabolic turnover may see results begin to fade earlier, while others may experience longer-lasting effects. The treatment is repeated as needed, typically three to four times per year, to maintain results. Your physician will tailor dosing across treatments based on how your face responds.

Most patients begin to see results within 3 to 5 days, with full effect typically visible at the 10 to 14 day mark. Dysport tends to have the fastest onset of the available brands. We recommend booking your treatment at least two weeks before any important event to ensure full results have settled. As for comfort, most patients find the injections very tolerable. The needles used are extremely fine and each injection takes only a second. Topical numbing can be applied for sensitive areas on request.

Minimal to none. Most patients return to normal activities immediately, including work, exercise (after 4 hours), and social events. Some patients experience small pinpoint marks or mild bruising at injection sites that fade within hours to a few days. You should avoid lying down flat, applying pressure to the treated area, or strenuous exercise for the first 4 hours after treatment.

Most patients start considering anti-wrinkle injections in their late twenties through their forties when dynamic lines begin to set in. Treating early, sometimes called preventative or baby Botox, can slow the formation of deeper static wrinkles over time. Patients in their fifties, sixties, and beyond also benefit from softened expression lines, though deeper static wrinkles may require additional treatments such as resurfacing or dermal fillers. Your physician will recommend an approach suited to your skin, your facial anatomy, and your goals during consultation.
